Pharmacy colleagues thanked in joint letter from regulators

Pharmacy colleagues have been thanked for their ongoing work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic in a joint letter from the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), UK chief pharmaceutical officers and the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

In the letter, the organisations acknowledge the pressures and challenging circumstances that pharmacy teams may be working under. They also call on employers, statutory education bodies, professional bodies and national NHS and health and social care organisations to continue to support pharmacy professionals facing these difficult situations.

The letter also emphasises that frontline pharmacy workers are among the high priority groups identified to receive the Covid-19 vaccine by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. This was highlighted in a second letter – signed by chief pharmaceutical officer Keith Ridge among others – sent to front-line health and social care workers encouraging them to get vaccinated “as soon as possible” and stressing that the vaccine is safe and effective.
